Richard Wong
Richard Wong is a photographer known for his modern day color landscape photograhy. His signature style includes
an abundance of color within his works, his contrast of the bright colors of wildflowers with earth tones of the
landscape gives his photographs an expressionist aspect which is a defining hallmark of his photography. While
my prefered photographic methods include cooler colors, his methods of scene-setting have provided me with a strong
basis on which to base my landscape photography is based. Below the included photographs is a more in detail view
of the artpieces themselves in relation to my photography.
Notable Photography
Schwabacher Landing
Sleepy Hollow Farm
Alaskan Summer
The three different images pictured are some which I consider the most influential to my work
with my two favorites being "Schwabacher Landing" and "Sleepy Hollow Farm" for their use of
more natural looking neutral colors. My main criticism of "Alaskan Summer" is with the colors
present in the Photograph. While the contrast of the wildflowers with the sky gives hints of
expressionism, some of the colors like the greens appear to be digitally altered to some extent
to improve the color contrast of the image. Despite the fresh appearance of "Alaskan Summer"
from the color contrast, the colors present give the viewer a slight sense of alienation which
is uncharastic of the photographic genre's environmentalist origins.
